ATLstealth09 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Cheap, low budget skate. If you like it for the look, go for it, but I think you would have a much better experience with the Mega line from a year or two ago than this new stuff.Best bet is convert some ice boots. I did it, and I love the skates. Weren't even top of the line, just some clearance from the year before. I put on some chassis, and the things were awesome. No breakdown at all.I personally love Bauer, too. I have a pair of 30-90s and the skates in my picture, the Vapor XI with Labeda Hum'er chassis.
Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 Gotta agree with Stealthy, most likely these things are crap. I can't beleive you love the Thunders so much, I have the RX and they are just awful skates. Go for the ice to inline upgrade and you'll get the op to pick and choose your favourite parts and put them together, worth it for the extra bucks thats for sure. Joker518 0 Report post Posted November 1, 2006 I look at these skates as the perfect example of a debate we had here awhile back about purchasing skates from a particular brand because they support and grow the sport and the others that... well... make skates like these. While Tour and Mission are constantly innovating for the inline game, Bauer once again takes the low road and slaps a generic chassis on a watered down ice hockey boot. With all the R&D money they pour into developing sick products like the One90 and the VaporXXX-Lite sticks, you'd think they'd try to do something to excite inline hockey players. Hell, even the friggin wheels are on those things are so middle of the road bland. I don't think they have aspirations beyond selling these to house leaguers and rec skaters at big box sporting goods stores... and it shows. I'm not saying don't buy Bauer gear, just keep in mind the thought process that goes into designing and building this stuff vs. the effort that obviously goes into designing something like the Code or Wicked series of skates. The difference is clear.
MIGHTYJOHN 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Yeah...Hmmm, Where did Bauer go wrong...?yrs ago they used to put practically the same boot on their inline & ice skates...remember the original Pro Comps..etc....then as soon as companies like Mission & Tour took they lead in roller hockey products...Bauer seemed to ba happy taking a back seat in that department...I remember 12-14yrs or so ago when I turned down a pair of MIssions for junior olympics(when they were a new comapny & still trying to get their name familiarized)...never thought I'd see the day when I'd take them over a Bauer...nowadays even at the pro level bauers are obsolete...Mission & Tour seem to be taking the lead in that department
