Powerball Gyroscope Exerciser

Recommended Posts

On another forum Im on someone started a thread about recently buying a powerball gyroscope from http://www.powerballs.com/. This is like the gyroscope exercise devices you see in stores but with a digital readout to see your RPMs. They are also better balanced then the ones you see in stores. I have no affiliation with Powerball but if anyone wants to order one you can use this code to get a 20% discount on your item before shipping: genmay.

It's hard to explain how it works, but I guess the website explains it well. I have one for 3 years now (got it for recovery after I broke my wrist) and when it comes to hand/forearm strengthening (and even coordination), this thing kicks ass. As I said in the other thread, I'd highly recommend it for all hockey players. (I'm not affiliated with them either)

you spin your wrist/hand in a small circular motion. You could maybe compare it to swaying a drink in a tumbler, just faster. It's kinda hard to learn, but once you got it it's easy.

Got one yesterday and can not get the *$% thing to work. What is the secret? I can get it to initially spin, but it will not accelerate when I rotate it back and forth, and eventually stops spinning.

The placement of the ball for it to rotate is probably the key there.

Would anyone be in for a group order on these things? There are quantity discounts.

I would be willing to pitch in for one if there would be a group order.

Get me an estimate on getting the ball to Canada. IF someone would be willing to ship the ball through USPS once they got theirs. I'd definately be in for a group order.

Does anyone know if the discount code applies to the 10+ quantities as well since the site says "email for pricing?" As I understand it, they are shipped from Ireland (to presumably USA or Canada). I haven't checked if there are brokerage fees involved in this case. And, how much do these things cost? I try "adding to cart" and all I get is blanks beside the $ signs. Anyone else have this problem? Also people would have to decide if they want the Regular or Pro model (w/spedometer).

Just some things to consider before doing a group order.

If there's someone here in the US, maybe one of the mods, who would be willing and interested to coordinate this thing, i'd be in for one with the speedometer. I'm in Canada as well, so i'd need someone to USPS it to me.

The breakoffs for the quantity discounts are 1, 2, 3-10, and 10+, just to let you guys know. Does anyone know if that promo code will work for more than 1?

hey just got it recently as well.. once u use the string to spin it, turn it upside down and start making large slow circles... it should feel like ur holding a string with a weight on the end and swinging it around... to increase the speed just gradually rotate it faster as u would with the string and weight... if it makes a lot of rattling noises then ur doing it wrong..

bazli is right. You need to make SLOW and UNIFORM circles to get them started.

EDIT: They even have a tutorial video on their site:

http://www.powerballs.com/powerball_videos...a8b07d74541b1b#

EDIT: considering that the prices on their site (even for 1 Powerball) include shipping to the US via UPS, I doubt that a group order saves you much money. If you save 5 bucks per ball upon order, you'll pay 5 bucks to ship them from the guy who organizes the group order. So it's a no-gainer.

Thanks guys, I got it to work. You have to pull the string really hard to get it to spin up enough to start working it. Also, the written instructions that came with mine were all wrong. You have to start it with the open end facing down. It is pretty neat.

The discount went up to 40% while I was away over the weekend. for those that already ordered, try emailing them to get some $ back. I think the 40% lasts until Friday of this week.
