Bauer Supreme 6500 Skates

Recommended Posts

I have looked in the Skate review section, and used the search function, but have come up empty handed on info about the BS 6500 skates. Has anyone used these skates? Pro's con's? I know they are old, but I may be purchasing a pair so I would like to know more about them. I have skated on 7000's and 8000's for the last 4 years, so I think they will be fine, but i just want to make sure.

Thanks, Zach

I have a pair I bought online but haven't used them more than twice because I purchased them too big. The skate itself is of a meduim stiffness as stated above, with good padding in the ankle area. Typical heel pitch of the Tuuk custom. About average weight, nice tounge if you wear shin pads over the tounge.

I have a fairly normal arch with a higher instep and I felt a little pressue on my arch when laced up pretty snug. Overall I'd be wearing them if they were not at least a size too big! I wear a size 10 US shoe but my left foot is longer, so my right foot is more like a 9.5, and I need a wide in Bauer. The 6500's are 8.5 Wide, and leave about 1/2 " extra, if not more in the toe box. They are heat moldable ( I am pretty sure) and give a decent heel lock. Hope this helps!

The 6500's were somewhat of a hybrid skate. It was Bauer's way of designing a higher-end skate, at a cheaper price point. Great skate if you are looking for an older style liner and fit, but that also comes with increased weight. There is a drastic jump from the weight of the 6500 to the 7000. The 6500 has an older style leather liner, as opposed to the newer hydrophobic liner in the 7000. The 6500 comes with a thicker felt tongue, which is actually usually preferred over the thinner ones that show up on the 7000, 8000, & above. Expect the 6500 to hold water weight longer. Comes with the Tuuk+, which in my mind is a plus(not a fan of lightspeeds). Overall, a good skate for a mid-level player, but not really considered a "high-end" skate. Hope this helps.
