hockeymom 2 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Picking my theme packages for expressvu and I have to decide between a sports package. My Dilema: I have to go with the Sports 1 that includes TSN but I am debating if it is worth picking up Sports 2 with the NHL network and Leafs TV? Or just picking up LeafsTV as an "extra".I have never watched NHL network, and only watched LeafsTV when my kid was on it during the lock out - so I have no idea if it is "worth it".My Question: Are the NHL network and LeafsTV worth paying extra to receive?? lando_8 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 If you are going to pick one over the other I would lean towards the NHL channel. I love NHL on the Fly, they have great highlights every night from all the games and the live coverage from games as well. They also have a wide range of hockey programming (a few games each year, vintage games, hockey academy, Top 10, etc).If your an avid Leaf fan then Leafs TV might be the way to go as they tend to broadcast Leaf games that aren't available on other stations (I believe).I'm in Ottawa so I can't get Leafs TV so I just get the NHL Network, I would probably get both if I could but if I had to choose one I would go with the NHL channel.Hope this helps! hip check 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 I picked the NHL Network over Leafs TV. I prefer to see more highlights and analysis of all the games going on for the night. I really don't care for the Leafs either, so that could be a bit of bias showing through. ;)
althoma1 575 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 Personally, I'd only pay for the Sports 1 theme and skip the Sports 2 theme unless you're trying to add a fifth theme and there's not another theme you'd watch more often (I know it's a better value to order 5 themes at $5 each then 4 themes for $8 each). I'd skip the Leafs TV channel because I'm not a Leafs fan and I'd skip the NHL Network because I can watch the Canadiens games on either CBC, RDS, or TSN (depending on the night) and see the highlights of the other games on the Score, Sportsnet and TSN among others (either live or recorded with my PVR). I've watched the NHL Network once in a while and its OK, but nothing exceptional - you can get most of the content on TSN anyway. If you're a big Leafs fan you'll want Leafs TV for the exclusive games and the extended post game coverage - otherwise skip it. I also know from other posts you've made that you used to be involved with horses - if you like horse racing then you may in fact want the Sports 2 theme as it does include some horse racing channels. hockeymom 2 Report post Posted December 6, 2006 How observant of you Althoma1!!Thanks for your input guys. I decided to go with Sports 1 and added the NHL network as a one-off for $2.50/month,because I figure that is really the only way I'll see if I like it. Eh, if they don't hold me I'll cancel it.Wouldn't it be nice if they gave you more flexibility?? It would be a no-bainer for me to dump NFL and Speed and replace it with NHL and LeafsTV..... if only they gave us the choice.
