returnimg to hockey need some equipment tips

Recommended Posts

I just started play ice again and bought new equipment. There are some changes id like to make so im looking for direction.

first im playing a non-competive rec league.

i have a pair of ccm vector 2.o elbows they keep sliding looking to up grade without breaking the bank.

looking for a pair of shins that have good knee protection but arent real heavy

And my pants got to go.

I bought L-3 missions. They are good pants but a bit of over kill for this league. I want something light and they dont need to have alot of protection.

I was thinking low end pants or a inline hockey girdle with a shell.

tell me what you think.

Oh i bought a bauer xxx ops and have a problem with passed bouncing off it. I dont have that problem when I use a woody. but i like the overall feel of the ops

if you want lightweight, comfort and mobility and dont care much about protection i would deffinetly go with the inline girdle and shell. The mission in line girdles are around 30 to 40 dollars, not too bad.

I've seen people raving about easton stealth S5 elbow pads, especially for their cost.

Jofa/RBK still seems to be the protective manufacturer of choice, and there's a lot of different options when it comes to their shins.

I know plenty of guys who wear inline girdles in my "competitive" beer league. By competitive, i mean that there's always a couple guys running around thinking it's the NHL and they're the enforcer. Still, a roller girdle with plasic inserts should do the trick, unless you're a defenseman who may block shots. There's always the option of an ice girdle- easton, bauer tackla and ccm all make them- but there's a heftier price tag on those.

If you don't mind using "preowned" equipment, you can really get some great deals at Play it again sports. I've seen bauer MBP girdles (retails around $125) going for $40, and in good condition.

btw, great avatar.
