Skate selection help

Recommended Posts

I love it when you drop them a half or full size simply by getting them into a wider skate. "But I'm a size 9, these can't fit."

I get the same thing on a regular basis! No sir, dont bother bringing out the 9, I havent worn a 9 since high school.

EndBoards - most measuring devices seen at shoe stores will have a horizontal scale that slides side to side to measure your width. first read off your shoe size, then use that size to determine your width. keep in mind these measuring devices are not always accurate for width. since hockey stores are hard to come by in your area, look around for experienced running shoe shops, they can asses your foot as well.

Just wanted to throw in that although someone suggested the Mission S Series, they will likely not be the right skate for you since you feel you need to develop more ankle strength. The S series skates are softer up top to allow more ankle mobility.

Mission's L Series or the current Fuel XP series is a more traditional skate from mission, and the L series will also haul in a bit of a bargain.

Eastwesthockey.com can also assess your foot type/suggest a skate for you based on a picture of your foot..

Just got back from my out of town trip..

I stopped by that rink to check out their skates, and all they had were Bauer Supremes and RBK's. They didn't have either in my size.

Fortunately, I did take my skates and I got the guy to re-do the rivets. I think that'll tide me over until I can go to another city with more selection for new skates..

S series will help you develop that strength in your ankles. They don't use a stiff boot to prop you up.
