One90's or 9K's

Recommended Posts

I'm looking into new skates and I first narrowed it down to 9K's (coming off of vector's), but I've recently opened my mind to the One90's as well.

If you guys were buying new skates for yourselves and these were the only two options, which would you choose and why?

My daughter had both on her short list and liked both of them... went with the one90's because they felt more comfortable. I think my being excited about the zero-neg was also a factor. She's happy with the 90's and says they are the best and most comfortable skate she has ever had. Had them profiled, but would do that with any skate.

I would go with tthe 9K's just based upon what I have heard about durability issues with the One90's. That said, if you have a Bauer kind of foot and like the pitch, will you be as comfortable in a Rbk? Many people do love the One90's so I guess it comes down to the usual advice: go to your LSH and try them both.

Coming from Vectors the 9k wouldn't be much different. The One 90 will be VERY different. It will be stiffer and have a much more constrictive feel to your foot. If you liked the way the Vectors felt, then your best bet would probably be the 9k. Base your decision on feel, not on what "the hype" is.

you should definately try both. i had both on my list and went with the 90s, just sorta liked them better at the time, but if i had it to do over again i may have chosen differently because of the durability issues ive had with them. bauer is great with customer serive (so far) but the break in period is so long and miserable (or at least was for me) that i almost wish i had gone with rbks to begin with. back to your question though, you need to choose whichever one fits your foot the best, as they are too somewhat different fitting skates, and both are gonna hit your wallet pretty hard so you dont wanna make a mistake...if you have a bauer foot dont overlook xxx just because theyre a little outdated (i cant believe im saying this about a 2 year old skate) but they are excellent skates and may be going on sale soon. fit is the most important thing, dont forget that. the 90s might be lighter, but if they dont work for you then the weight difference with do you no good at all.

I would suggest the Rbks. I went from Vectors to Rbks and I didn't have any problems transitioning, but try on both as several people have already mentioned.

Seriously, if you liked the Vectors, i'd look for another pair on sale... since you already had em, you know all the data like size and fit etc...

I would call around or go online for a new pair...

I would kill for a old pair of 703's with the swede panels...

I just posted this in another One90 thread.....

I came from the RBK 8K, had minor fit issues, just need some adjusting on my skates. But anyways, I was looking at One90's or 9K's... I didn't dig the fit on the One90, just wasn't for my foot. I tried Vapor XXX's just for the heck of it. I just don't think Bauer skates are made for my Fred Flintstone feet.

It's official, I went with the 9K's.

get what fits best. The 9Ks have a wider heel than the vectors, they skates should fit well without having to pump it up. Just get what fits you best.

here is the determining factor if money isn't one of them.

from what i tried: 7ee in one90 perfect length and width, depth

7d in 9k not wide enough, but a tad bit longer. still fitted fine but not as close fit as one90.

so the point is to try them both.

id go with one90 for myself just cus it fits perfectly snug in all dimensions copmared to the 9k which only fits perfectly in width and depth

I don't know about the 9Ks, but I can tell you this, I've taken a few shots off my One90s and they have all hurt like hell. Today I caught a shot near the top or second eyelet, and got cut underneath, when it happened I thought my ankle was broken. Even weak shots - that I wouldn't have even felt in my Grafs - sting.
