Stick Help

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to decide what stick I want and can't really come up with a solid answer yet from anyone. I was looking at various sticks including the XXX Lite, the Mac Daddy, the Dolomite, breifly looked at some of the Easton sticks, CCM sticks seemd OK, and was even checking out some Sherwood sticks. I currently use an Intermediate L-2 and I think its fine, but want something with a better feel, and if possible, lighter. I'm looking at a senior stick that I can cut down about an inch, maybe two, (or pop out the plug in some cases) that will give me around a 80-85 flex. I was wondering your opinions.

I know people say there have been tons of these topics, but I have used the Search tool and not been able to get any topics that I really want, or that significantly help me, so if you are going to close this topic, at least leave me a link to a topic that will actually be useful to me, or otherwise leave it me.

On another note, I like a blade with a pretty big curve (9/16, or soemthing along those lines) and was curious how a curve like a Lindros compares to curves like a Gaborik or Smyth.

Tell me what stick you like and why and any help is appreciated!

Forgot to mention I like to pass, do some stick handling, and i take some slapshots, but don't really have the power to break a stick. I do take my fair share of slashes to teh stick though. I mainly take wrist and snapshots.

you're all over the place, man. Not to be a jerk... but exactly what kind of input are you looking for? I think just about every OPS you mentioned has a review in the "reviews" section... look 'em up, see what best suits you. The reviewers on the forum are amazing- very detailed, etc. I think it's rather rude to demand your topic not be locked unless you get a link... then really not be very direct as to what you need help on.

Test some out. Just because someone loves a stick doesn't mean you will. A lot of people bad mouth Rbk sticks, but I love them.

Gaborik is nothing like Lindros.

Blades that are near lindros in other brands:

Mission - Elias/Hatcher

TPS-Messier

CCM-Recchi or Thornton if you can get your hands on one.

Easton - Best bet is Pro Stock (Wideman)

Its all personal preference man. If you liked your L-2 and are seriously worried about new sticks, just stick with Mission. You liked your blade? Get a pulse or hex. I like to believe that sticking with one peice of equiptment for ever is best. Just like sticking with one curve. Find your curve, find your stick and keep buying it over and over.

Sorry I wasn't very clear. I like blades more like the Smyth, Yzerman, Gaborik etc. and was just curious if the Lindros is similar to those blades at all.

Personally I think my stick is fine, but I want to take a step up from the L-2. Its done the job, but I feel like the XXX Lite and those sticks are jsut on a whole different level. I'm hoping to get a stick that is lighter and has a better feel. I didn't really like the blade, which is why I want a different one.

If you use 1 word, thats at least 4 letters, the search should be extremely helpful. Also the review section is a great place to start off as well.

Seems like you want to go with a newer OPS thats top of the line. Looks like you've essentially narrowed it down to a Warrior or XXXlite, both have loyal followings and decent feel from my experiences (limited with XXXLite. Bauer makes a senior 77 flex, which should be up your alley, while Warriors lowest will be their 85 (for Senior). Can't help you out with curves for Bauer, sorry.

Well from my personal past experiences I would stay away from Bauer OPS period! I broke 4 Bauer OPS in a two month period, 3 of which were Vapor XXX lites. The XXX lite does have an amazing feel but the blade chips really quickly. All three of mine broke in the same spot too - a big crack on the bottom of blade, heel side. The shaft itself was a very solid/durable one though. No complaints on the upper half. The XX never lasted to long for me either.

If you asked me, I would say you have two routes. Durability or Feel. If you want the nicest touch and probally lightest stick I would suggest the Vapor XXX Lite. Although I'm betting it will break before your warrantys up. If you want a solid stick then Id go with a CCM. The CCM V110 was the longest lasting stick I've ever had and it was just a tank. Obviosly you want a more higher end stick though so maybe the V130?

Hope it helps.

One of my friends just switched from his L2 to a Synergy SL..he likes it a lot but is still worried about the durability factors involved with the infamous Eastons.

Thanks a lot, thats just the kind of help I was looking for. Out of curiousity, how is the feel on the CCM sticks, and is the V130 the equivilant of this years V10.0? Also, does anyone know how the RBK sticks feel?
