skate baking time period

Recommended Posts

Not, Not BS, Most say 8-10 Hours, But I like 24 just to be sure. You Have to let those thermo plastics cool and harden back up before you skate in em and mess up the Form. Just try out your skates First, Then have them formed before you head for home.

the store attendant said i ahve to wait 24 hours, is this bs

the skates are vapor xx

Nope. As Wex12 said, most say 8-10 hours, but better safe than sorry. Best to let everything cool (especially the epoxy and the like).

NO, Just Wait the Recommended time. It don't have to be 24 hours to the MINUTE, but keep the skates off your feet for a day after you bake them. No ifs ands or buts about it. There's nothing to be done to speed up the process. I know waiting to try em out is antagonizing, but if you hurry the process, it'll ruin the molding, and ruin the experience and you might end up hating them. So make sure it's done Right before you give em a whirl.

I've had skates baked, put then in the fridge and skated on then 6 hours later.

I think 8-10 hours is reasonable, 24 seems like an overkill. Glue does not need that much time to set. I think they say 24 hours just so that eager beavers who may cheat by 18 hours will still be Ok. If they said wait 2 hours, you'd be skatin' in 15 minutes.

Disclaimer: I don't have a clue... So if you take my advice and your skates fold, I am not responsible.

if you think about it, molding the skates is really heating up the materials until they are soft enough to be re molded to fit your feet...if you speed the cooling process down you will just create a poor fit and you will cause stress upon the boot that is not strong enough to support the weight in the soft state that it is in. Those 8 hours you dont wait now could cause your boots to break down alot quicker then they would normally

Sorry to hijack the thread, but its to do with the same subject.

There are different ovens available, but are they much different from each other?

Which is the best?
