Mission Fuel AG95 skates?

Recommended Posts

I have returned my L4's due to a complete breakage in the support going up the achilles...apparently this was a common problem with that line. In any case, my options are to trade for the 85's or spend a few extra dollars and bump up to the 95's. The 95's are lighter, but that shed weight comes at the cost of the tongue padding - a possible problem since I am a shot blocking winger. Also, the model they have is the AG95. From what I gather, these are the lighter, more flexible model (vs. the XT). I am 235lbs, and an agressive skater, which makes me wonder if these are the best choice (they are the only option available in my size at my LHS where I bought the L4's. Any input here - anyone have the 95's that could give me some info. Thanks.

The XPs are more similar to the L series and are very different from the AG. I would go XP if I were you. If you really want AGs and have something to skate in for now ask if you can get the 2007 AGs. They are much improved.

Be careful with sizing. I got AG110. Fitted them very snug. After baking and skating in then about 3 times they stretched :( . Get them extra snug.

How long did it take for you to get used to them? I got them today, and gave them my first run this evening. I was wearing 10.5E in the L4's, but the 10E fit me in these after the baking. My first impressions are not good. The feel flimsy as all hell - almost sorry I didn't just go with the 85's since they didn't have the XP's. To say the crossovers felt wierd would be an understatement - it felt like the skates were folding in two around my ankles, and I had them tightened as much as possible with wax laces in them! All in all, I felt very clumsy on them. I had the pitch adjusted all forwards, like on my L4's. All this being ssaid, the conditions were tough to base a judgement on - I was on natural ice, it was chippy as hell, a fair amount of snow covering, and it was really cold, so the ice didn't much. I think I will go by the arena tomorrow to give them a run and see how they feel - I hope this is something I can get used to...right now I like the L4's better. I'm wondering if these are a good fit for me at my size and weight.

Sadly it is looking that way - and the sickening part is I can't return them now, so I am kinda stuck with them for the rest of the season. I'm going to try them at the arena this afternoon and see how they feel on good ice and decide what I'll do from that I guess.

I should have listened to you Chadd...I am calling Mission this morning to see if they will do anything. If not, I will prob trade them in and buy a pair of Grafs.

I called Mission this morning - no help. I called the store where I picked them up, and the rep told me he will see what he can do...hopefully I will be able to change to something more suited to me or get my money back - money back probably won't be an option, but something I can skate on would be nice -I have a game this weekend! Regardless, I think I am going back to CCM after this season - the new Vector 6.0 looks pretty sweet. Can Mission Pitch holders be fit onto CCM's?

Yes mission pitch holders can be fit on CCM skates, may require additional holes drilled but for a good hockey shop thats not a problem. However if you are 235lbs why not get a older pair of Vector Pros or Pro Tacks they will be stiffer, last longer, since they were top of the line for their year probaly will be same weight or lighter than a newer lower end model, and can be had for cheap now that they are a few years old.

Well, the store is having 95-XP's shipped in to replace them - they were supposed to be shipped from the manu today, so I hope I have them for my game on Sunday.
