Quick question on the Aluminum shaft, Easton Convex

Recommended Posts

So, I was putting together some blade/shaft combos this weekend. I have 3 old shafts that I use and a few blades.

One of the shafts is the Easton Aluminum Convex.

I heated both the shaft and butt end, same as I had done with the other 2, but it would not go in.

Do I need to shave some wood of the butt end, because of the convex shaft, or am I just doing something wrong?

Cheers

I never had the Easton Convex, but I did find that aluminum shafts in general were a much tighter fit than composites when inserting blades/butt-ends. Torch and pound...

The other 2 shafts I have are both Easton, and one of those was Aluminum, but had no problems getting either the butt ends or the blades in.

It's no big deal, was just lining up some different blade shaft combos, and this was for my peca blade, but I just can't get the damn thing in.

I may have to go the chisel and shave route.

But it shouldn't neccessarily be because of the convex shaft itself?
