Moving the blade will effect your center of balance. Some players have a different preference for their balance point than "straight down the middle." Jim does this a lot with the figure skaters boots. Figure boots also have leather soles which is a whole other ballgame when it comes to true, flat, and square to your foot and leg. Leather figure boot soles are sanded flat at the factory during production.
