Sprung Goalie

Recommended Posts

Could you make a sprung goalie skate? (A goalie skate with a sprung frame.)I thought I might give sprung stuff a try, and being a goalie, my logic dictates that you should try them on goalie skates. Actually, I should probably use them on player skates, because that'd probably make more sense.

So, (edited) questions.

-Do they sell just the boots of the skate, so I don't have to take the chassis off? (I know Aussie Joe got a stolen one...)

-Should I use an ice hockey boot? Since they're heavier, because an ice puck is heaver, that might restrict my movement. But if I went with a roller skate, there are only two options, max, I have to choose from.

how bout the last three questions then :D

yeah, found the other sprung topic. Excellent, so you CAN use goalie wheels. I thought it might be awkward with reg ones.

how bout the questions that are left?

well this is kinda naughty of me but i said i would test the sprung goalie chassis.

but i just havnt got round to mounted as i dont play roller anymore.

anyway heres some pics

there isnt acutally any springs in the chassis and it doesnt rock its basically just a light weight plastic compound its pretty tough too.

TBH there isnt really anything special about them

You take the ice skate of your choice, cut off the blade and it's holder, smooth the bottom of the cowling, drill and rivet (i've also done this with the screws used by Graf) the chassis to the cowling and, bam, an inline goalie skate. I don't use the bauer skates because I don't like the selection of wheels for them and, because of this, have built quite a few pairs of skates for both myself and others.

I don't wanna do all that work, because I'm afraid I'll mess up, and I'm also too lazy. That's why I want to know if they sell just the boot, so I don't have to worry about anything.

Want to do one for me, vision?
