BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 Gentleman,I just finished my first season in Adult Hockey and I have a question. All season and since I started skating, I have been getting a 7/16 inch edge on my skates. What would be the pro's and con's of going to 1/2 inch, if any? I am not that big, 6ft, 195lbs. Is 7/16 to "deep"? Thanks in advance for the help.
jimmy 194 Report post Posted February 7, 2007 There will probably be no cons. At 195 lbs you wil probably like the 1/2" much more, the pro's are you'll get more speed, use less effort, get less chatter, be more in control of your skates, and your sharpening (edge) will last longer. DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2007 none. Steel comes without a hollow, it's your sharpener who puts one on there. Most shops will put either 3/8" or 1/2" as standard.
