Rink Rat Crossbar

Recommended Posts

I used to have the Hyper Pro wheels that came with the Bauer goalie skate. Since only the inside edge wore down, I could just flip them around when it started to get a little too worn.

Now, I'm thinking about getting some different wheels. Are the Rink Rats symmetrical? Or, are they not like the Labeda Patriots, where the two sides are grossly unidentical? At this point I'm pretty sure they're the same on either side, but I just want to make sure.

Or, new question. Can you do the same (just flip em) with the rink rats? You can't flip normal wheels, and since the Hypers wheels kinda resembled squares, only the inside edge wore down, so I could flip em, kinda doubling the life of the wheel. Now both edges are wearing down, so I'd like to know if I can do that with the rink rat.

the RR look slightly asymetrical to begin with. I assume but seeing as goalie wheels can wear out quick, the assymetry won't matter come a few uses as you will need to flip anyway. I really couldn't see a reason why RR would release a goalie wheel you couldn't rotate. They would last 3-4 uses and require replacement.

I have had bad expieriences with the RR goalie wheel. All of my wheels showed some signs of hub separation with 3 of them actually "blowing" apart during gametime with as little as one game being played on the wheels. I feel that it is poorly designed. If you look closely at the hub design it shows the hub only partialy surrounded by the urethane wheel using a "cup" like design. I was using the smaller 47mm wheel when I had this problem so I went to the bigger 59mm RR Hotshot wheel and have been very happy with their performance. The Hot Shot wheel hub has holes for the wheel's urethane to completely mold to the hub. All in all, go with the RR Hotshot or equivalent.
