nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 All of sudden I've developed a skate problem and I've never had this issue before. It seems my left foot has gotten wider then my right foot in the heel area. The left foot has a big bump there in the heel and the right foot has a bump as well but not enough to really notice.I purchased a pair of 9K's, They felt great in the store and after heating them. However after wearing them a few times I noticed they felt great on the left but were too loose on the right foot. Tryed a pair of One90's and they feel perfect on the right foot, But on the left foot my heel area would be in alot of pain. I tryed tieing it a little looser and that didn't help either. To make things more difficult the rest of my foot is a normal to narrow width. What direction do I go in now? A_Steeves12 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Id say your best option, although it more then likey would be costly, would be get some custom skates. unless you could find a pair of pro-return skates that fit both of your feet.
hockeymom 2 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Is it a bone spur or heel spur on your heel? Depending on where it is located and I suppose how severe it is, you should be able to either get a skate punched out to accomodate it or the one90 is fully heat formable in the panels (vs. the normal heat moldble) and that might be eased wide enough to accomodate the heel.Speak with the most knowledgeable skate fitter at your LHS about how a skate can be adapted. I'll try to dig up some threads about heel spurs so you can figure out if that is what it is. They are caused by wearing skates that don't fit properly in the heel.I searched "spurs" as a topic and these threads came up:http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...ghlite=%2Bspurs
AnthonyJTa 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 I've been kind of going through the same ordeal, Nick... what width skates are you skating in now? The only options are custom made skates, or having "hot spots" in the skate punched- which have both been mentioned in previous posts. I'd say it'd be best to go with a regular width skate, as you can always make the boot experiencing discomfort bigger via punching, etc... if the skate is too big, nothing can be done to compensate the open space. Is the bump on the back of your heel, or more on the side? Do you get pain or discomfort in the spot? You may have a form of Haglund's Deformity...you basically get a bursitis sack on your heel... my uncle's had an issue in the past. nicksmission14 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 It's on the side of my heel and it's not really a bone spur it's a bone in the side of my left toward my heel sticks that sticks out really far the other foot is pretty normal.I stopped in my LHS today, they are going to take care of me. We're going to try punching that spot and see if it helps me out!It starts out as a discomfort then amplifies to a pain by the time I'm done skating lol.
