greatone 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Anyone ever use skate weights?? Did they help with speed in any way??
Trooper 8 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Waste of money. When you are pushing, the weight is setting on the ice, how is that going to help with speed? Time spent in the weight room and working hard on explosiveness/speed is going to help, not gadgets.
DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2007 Sure the weight is sitting on the ice when you're pushing, but your stride isnt just about pushing the ice, you also need to move your feet quickly for good acceleration. Weights wouldn't do much for the power of your stride, but they will help to make your feet quicker.
Trooper 8 Report post Posted February 19, 2007 They may make you feel like you are moving quicker, like warming up with a donut on the bat does in baseball, but given how much they weigh, there are much better ways to get stronger/quicker.
