Anyone read "The Code" by Ross Bernstein?

Recommended Posts

I just finished reading this book after picking it up to read on a flight home from vacation. I was somewhat disappointed- It seemed like a very good premise, but it was poorly executed. The anecdotes from the players where decent, but the "meat" of the book seemed very repetitive. So much so that I found myself thinking I had marked the wrong page and was re-reading chapters. On the plus side, it did make me miss watching Tony Twist throw down. He was scary good.

Anybody else read this book?

I share your sentiment. A good drinking game would be to drink every time the author writes something like, "And you will pay the consequences..." or a variation of that. You wouldn't make it to the end alive.

I ordered it yesterday. I might have thought more about it if I had seen this thread before then. Hopefully I will not be disappointed though.

Save yorself some time- just read the first chapter. The rest of the book just repeats itself over and over and over and over and over........

I loved reading the anecdotes from former tough guys and alike. Also, there's an awesome quote from Tiger Williams which goes something like, "When you strap on the skates, it's an invitation to get your head split open." or something along those lines. I don't have the book in my house right now, but if somebody could dig up that quote and post, then it'll be my new signature.

But yeah, the book is kind of Schrute.
