breaking in skates

Recommended Posts

using wet warm socks to break in your new skates as you wear them around your house is common practice correct?

i tried to help out a kid from my rink's forum and the admin came along and said "i'd ask the pro shop mananger before using that advice, dont make stupid comments"

the old wet sock trick is pretty old school and IMHO doesn't work any better than just wearing the skate around the house for awhile. In the old days boots were made from leather and the water softened up the leather to help it form better. The modern skate doesn't have old fashioned leather inside, it has the high tech liners. The only thing wearing wet socks accomplishes is getting the inside of your skates wet and then you have to wait for them to completely dry before skating in them.

Between the baking, wearing around the house and punching/ stretching , they should be able to get a nice fit assuming the skate is the correct size, or correct length with a hot spot. Between baking and a very small stretch at the ball of the feet, my One90's feel as if they were poured onto my feet.
