Shin Pads

Recommended Posts

Alright. Do you like to wear your shin pads where it meets your skate..or over your skate? I find if I do it wear they meet I still have a lot of un-protected area...do you think puttin' them over your skate slows you down at all?

Do you think it slows you down...also when you have nothing on and you just slip the shin pad on...where on your leg does it go too?..I have 15' and they are way to short and I'm tyring to decide whether or not to go 16' or 17'

I saw from one of your other posts that you're 6'2"...I would guess that 15" is way too small for you. But 17" will likely be big on you. Try 16".

It's just how you prefer them. I wear mine over my tongue and have tried them under my tongue but I never could get used to it.

that's what I was thinking...cause when I bought the 15' it fit fine when it meet with the tounge of my skate but then I took a shot and it hurt so I started to put it over the tounge and it's a bit to short now.

Kosy-

Yup. For the longest time I'd used 17s and they seemed fine but when I tried an 18 on them they match up perfectly. I can only find them in the 9090s though.

I skate normally I guess. I was just curious... anyways...completely changing subjects....my kidney pad on my pants are to small..who makes a good long pant...think that tackla 2 extra inches is to much or what?

I wear mine over top of the tongue. Does not hamper my skating at all - but I will definitely use it as an excuse now. I find I can wear a longer shin pad and protect a bit more of the high ankle area.

If you find you are still getting hit there, stitch on a piece like Eric Desjardins had done, like a baseball catcher has on his shinpads.

If I'm not mistaken I believe that the extra 2" on the Tacklas is on the leg. That may not solve your problem with kidney protection being too small.

How tall are you?

I guarantee you my legs are longer and I would say they would work fine. I don't know how that correlates into kidney protection though.

I have the same problem with longer legs and I'm thinking the Tacklas would suit you, but you'd just have to try them on. Or check Ebay, they get a lot of pro overruns.

When you say that you are looking for more kidney protection, do you mean that you want to wear your pants higher?
