Whats the closest composite to the Sherwood 5030, 7000 wood sticks?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys ive been using those old Sherwood 5030/7000 wood sticks (Coffey pattern) for a while now and was wondering, what would be the easiest transition from this stick to a composite?

The thing i love most about those sticks were the feel i got when stickhandling and of course the Coffey curve.

So basically i want to try out what the new composite shafts have to offer, and possibly stick in a sherwood coffey blade, or something similar like the Warrior Draper.

From what i gather so far, either a Dolomite or AK27 shaft is the way to go, but im scared that if i put in say, a sherwood 9000 wood blade, it will be too blade heavy and thus wont be anything like the old wood sticks i use.

Am i heading in the right direction? Or should i be looking elsewhere?

I'd go with a shaft and blade combo. Higher end wood blades should be light enough to not feel like an axe. Just stay away from ultra light shafts like the redlite series.

I have a few OPS cut for tapered blades that I'm selling(just pm me) if you just want to try it out before you spend $80+ on a new shaft.

well, after much time standing around trying sticks at the store, i decided to go with a Synergy II shaft with Sherwood momentum XD tapered blade so i could keep the coffey curve. Definately feels very nicely balanced, but the real test will be the next practice
