Question for those who have organized/run leagues before

Recommended Posts

So, I signed up for the league at the caps new practice facility. It starts this friday.

I have been confirmed as having a place on it, and the league schedule is up already.

But we don't know what team we are on, or if we are in the early or late game.

Is this common. I'm almost thinking friday must be an initiation and waiver signing etc. We were asked what number we wanted on the signup, but not what size. I'm 6'3'' and 240, so I'm hoping they don't just order a general L size for everyone.

Anyone who has run leagues know if this is common practice, am I worrying over nothing?

I've been in leagues where they do and don't ask for your size. That ones that don't usually end up ordering the same giant size for everyone that didn't pester them for their actual proper size.

I know a kid that signed up for their spring mite league on their first day they had an evaluation skate where coach just looked at them. But yeh they were given a generic black or white jersey kind of like they do to split teams in HS. Later they got a team sets with a number (not the one he asked for (he wanted 8, got 2)) and caps logo in one solid blue color. They devided all the kids in to 4 teams blue (best team ever) :P , black, red, white. I don't know if it will be the same for you though.

Well, I finally got through to them. I just wasn't sure if friday was going to be spent signing waivers, being assigned teams and jerseys etc.

Basically, the games start friday, he is putting the teams together now, and will e-mail to us before friday. The jerseys are going to be sized from L-XXL with the lower numbers being the smaller sizes, and the higher being the larger (which may be why he didn't get his requested number)

E-mail will have a locker room assignment with the jerseys in there.

And thats it, seems a little last minute, but I don't mind, was just worried that they took my money then didn't assign me to a team as I only enrolled sort of last minute.

So the jerseys have the caps logo's, thats not bad

That rink is awesome. My son's team played down there this past winter. It's weird to look out the window & you're up 6 floors.

Blue can no longer be considered the best team ever.

First game, Friday night, 8.15 at caps practice facility, I am part of Caps Blue team.

I feel this is the season where I get my first goal, should I have to hijack the zam and run over the goalie, I'm scoring this season!!!

It's ok, I suck, I made a thread here before about never having scored a goal.

My next one will be my first.

I have 5 games a month between now and the end of august, I better get at least one, even if its off my head while I am falling gloriously to the ground

You're a big guy. Just park in fornt of the net. Sooner or later, a puck will hit you and deflect in. Or you might get a rebound. But I am betting on the former for your first ever! :P

I'm also a bigger guy, and I've actually parked in front of the net on the PP and instructed my D to shoot the puck AT me so as to get odd bounces/rebounds, whatever. Nothing like scoring one off your ass.
