Inline Hockey in Europe

Recommended Posts

Just curious...what is the inline hockey atmosphere like in Europe? In the States there are a handful of national tournament series that tour the country holding tournaments. Anything like that over in Europe? From what I have been told, there is a stronger emphasis placed in "travel leagues" for the elite players...just curious.

Thanks.

Ballhockey is quite stong in Europe(compared to any other place on earth lol).

Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Denmark, Polan and Israel are member countries of IISHF(.com) and Russia/Czech republic have had talks of joining.

All the countries have a national league, plus weekend tournaments (some national and some international) scattered through the year.

The international federation (IISHF) have a European Cup for clubteams, and one for the national teams each year.

Clubteams: u12, u15, u18, Women and Mens.

National teams: u18, Women and Mens.

It seems like ballhockey has a stronger set-up internationally, in terms of tournaments and options, than inlinehockey here in Europe. But I know inlinehockey has also started having a European Cup so it's probably the same, just 2 different sports.
