Broken OPS you found in the trash

Recommended Posts

I saw a a broken dolomite sticking out of a can about 3 weeks ago and a friend was looking for a tapered blade so I went over to pick it up to try and pull the blade for him. When I got there it turned out to be a busted dolo2 shaft with an almost new dolo2 blade in it.

Seems most guys around here hold on to their broken sticks and convert them themselves, because I don't find 'em too often.

also if you find a broken dolomite... that blade can be heated up and pulled out with a heat gun. I've done it 7 times already. Warrior does not seal their blades in their "1 pieces" very well.

Found a broken blue Synergy SL in the trash yesterday... now that I think about it I should've took it and send it to stick fix, or at least made a shaft of it.

I was working the clock for the state Varsity tournament, and some kid broke the blade on his Christian Torch OPS and tossed it in the trash. I waited a while, and he left, so I grabbed it, cut it, and stuck a blade in it. It's a decent stick, but not as nice as my Dolo 2, so it's my backup.

a couple of years ago when my dad was comming out of Devils practice rink lat one nite and saw some guys throwing out bundles and bundles of sticks and gloves, my dad went over to talk to them and they told him they were getting rid of all the old sticks and gloves that the guys didn't use any more. They just ended up giving it to my dad. Needless to say when i found out next moring, it was like christmas, we must of gotten 13-15 pairs of gloves 60-70 wood sticks, 20-25 various kinds of shafts, god knows how many composite and wood blades, and about another 30 ops. Some were used, some were broken and some were brand new. I still use some of those gloves and sticks that we had left over.

My favorite gloves by far were a pair of the old Bauer SPD's i think is what they were. The number on the plam was 28. ( no idea who that was) Now thy're the new 4 roll NBH pro, minus the nike swoosh. They were nylon and leather mixed, red white and black. What beauties I used them for about 3 1/2 years now (until i got pro stock RBK's)

as for favorite stick, I dont think i really had one. Since I'm righty, and most of the sticks we got were lefty I didn't get to try out everything. I think what i used the most was, we got a bunch of Easton Griplite shafts ( i forgot who's it was) and I would tryout the different blades. There was a real nice heel curve, almost like a drury and modano mixed. I think that was my favortie. The rest are sitting in my basement collecting dust.

I don't suppose you have any of those Griplite's sitting around do you? I know a good home for them. ;)

The only things I have found are an int ST with a broken blade and a perfectly good 5030 with a chipped toe, a little epoxy and it was good as new. I tried cutting down the ST but I think I cut off too much.

Wow , that is a great find. What do you have left from all of that?

i dont think that i have actually seen anybody in my rink throw there stick in the garbage, i was watching a begginer adult practice and some guy took a slapshot and hit the ice a bit too hard and the entire blade of his wood stick flew about ten feet, im pretty sure he threw it out
