Sizing Difference between RBK & NBH Vapor line

Recommended Posts

Im currently skating in a 9D RBK skate but I am considering buying either a pair of xxxx or xxx.

What is the difference in size & fit between the two brands? Is there any fit difference between the xxxx and the xxx?

RBKs are wider and deeper. Possibly higher cut.

If the rbks fit you well, there's a good chance the vapors will be too narrow. XXXXs have a wider toe box than the XXXs, but still a somewhat narrow heel.

DamnLocust, I am actually looking a lower cut boot as the RBKs have been giving me alot of pain in my left ankle recently. I wore Bauer 6000's at training last night had no pain in my ankle whatsoever, altho the arches were too high.

I know that there are differences between the old supreme line and the vapor line so Im thinking that a Vapor boot in an E fitting would give me the width I need and also have lower arches than the 6000's i previously wore.

Does anyone have any idea of roughly what size of skates I would need. After looking at a few conversion charts I think that I would probably need an 9.5E

It depends on how the boot fits your foot. I was recently looking at skates and a 7D 9K felt great, but I took an 8D XXXX (7.5D was much too short). Others are only a half size different. You'll have to try them on to make sure.

If you're looking at a lower cut boot you may want to look at Graf as well.

Are the new VaporXXXXs a ploy to get customers to buy Bauer skates that wouldnt otherwise? Other than the 8090s, the VaporXXXXs fit me better than any Bauer I've ever tried on in a wide. I tried on the 9.5EE Vapor XXXXs and they fit great, but the same skate in a VaporXXX was too roomy in the heel and just didnt fit as well.

Although I believer the RBKs are higher cut, the Vapors are still a fairly tall boot. Supremes are lower cut.

You may be experiencing ankle pain due to the depth of the RBKs. Perhaps a thicker footbed will help. If you have an old pair of skates, you can simply put the old insoles under the ones currently in the RBKs.

I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but I don't see a high cut boot causing ankle pain without some other factor.

I found the Vapor XXXX's to fit better, and be more tight / comfortable. Bauer was my first love of hockey when I had a pair of Bauer 4000's, and iv yearned for a new pair of Bauers ever since. Buying the Vapor XXXX's in 3 - 4 weeks :D cant wait
