Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 6, 2007 I know there have been many a topic on beer leagues, and cost and such, but I am looking to Narrow it down just to Michigan Leagues. Where do you play (City/Rink) -How much Per Player -How many games does that get you, including playoffs -How many teams -How many players per team -USA Hockey Certification -We've gotten quite a bit of complaints this year cuz we raised our rates to $375, for 20 games, and 2 playoff min, 14-15 per team, and USA Cert. So I'm looking to show how we stand compared to other areas. Again, Just Michigan players please. Thank you in advance.
joshy207 15 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 Wex-- a lot of it depends on what the ice sells for. Here in Detroit, some rinks are around $150/hour, but some are fast approaching $300/hour. I think the rink I play at (Viking Arena in Hazel Park) is charging about $260. That said, our league is $5150 per team for 25 guaranteed games (24 league and at least 1 playoff, finals are best-of-3) plus refs. The league also maintains a website. I run my team, I charged $375 per guy with 14 regular players. We have to be USA registered, but that's handled by each player on his own.
Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 We add the USA fee into ours, and do all the registrations for them. Our ice was 150, now going to 160 this upcoming season. USA mandating Two Refs is really a drain on the $. We also pay a scorekeeper, ($10/game). Also, what Times of the week do you play? Last year, all our games started no later than 930pm. joshy207 15 Report post Posted June 7, 2007 Those are good times... Our league ran divisions on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday... earliest games were 9:00, latest 11:00. I forgot to add that a scorekeeper was provided too...I think the refs get around $25/game, scorekeeper $10-15.I'm assuming your league is arena-run? Some of the Detroit area leagues are, some are organized by outside parties who just purchase ice.Do you provide uniforms too?

Thank you in advance. With what you provide (rather early start times, # of games, and USA Hockey certification) those rates seem alright. What were you previously charging? Obviously people never like to hear they will have to pay more for something they've had before. PS- Since you're from Cadillac, I'm assuming Wex = Wexford. If so, you run a nice sheet up there. I played there 7-8 years ago and was impressed back then. Haven't been there since, and don't remember the locker rooms (are they rather small?) Ice was nice though. Gummer12 134 Report post Posted June 8, 2007 Joshy: our league Used to be arena run, but they have now taken over themselves. Yes, Jerseys and socks are provided, but they are all sponsored by local businesses, mostly guys in the league. Wayne: We used to charge 350, and it had to go up cuz of USA raising the Ref rates, and taking on paying their own scorekeeper. And thanks for the Kind words. We have had very many similar accolations from many teams, including the Red Wings Alumni, who said it was the best Ice they've ever been on. The locker rooms Were rather small (old basketball L/R) But we recently remodelled them a couple years ago. MUCH nicer! Still looking to add a couple more possibly this summer.I don't get why people always have to balk at paying their league fees. I mean, ya KNOW it's coming, put a $50 bill away every other month as soon as the league ends.Still would like some numbers to bring to a meeting we might be having soon. Thanks.
