Re-Palming gloves

Recommended Posts

I've a pair of nylon CCM gloves that were custom made for the Binghamton Senators. The outer of the glove is still in excellent condition however the palm has now become really slimey and I would like to replace it.

Are gloves easy to replam? Does it cost much? or am I better just buying a new pair of gloves?

Here's a picture of the gloves I'm talking about

I bought a pair if similar gloves from the 'Dogs and the palms were pretty beat up. I went to a shoe repair place. He had pre-made glove palms that he just sews in...they were pretty stiff at first...but they've softened up nicely.

You won't get the hi-tech materials from a shoe place that you'll get if you order them from a hockey company...but you may save a few bucks. Depends what is important to you.

Mine cost me $60.

I think your in the north, and boxing clubs are easier to find in Ireland than hockey clubs (at least where I'm from)

Go to the local boxing club, ask the trainers where they get their gloves repalmed, and check with them.

They will have softer materials than a regular shoe shop at home

How much do you love the gloves? The new palm will most likley be made of a synthetic material and will cost around $60.00. I would say estimate when you think the gloves are going to be too small and how much longer that will be. Because if you are going to spend money replacing these palms then buy new gloves next season, just buy new gloves now when you can get the summer discount. Or if the hole is small enough just get some fabric and make a temporary fix untill you find a pair of gloves you like.
