Fixing broken Dolomite

Recommended Posts

ive done about 5 or 6 dolo's all went fine besides my first attempt.

i found it easiest to not wreck the blade/shaft by cutting a lite line all around the stick where the fuse point is.

much easier to get the blade out and no harm to either blade or shaft

This is an update to my earlier posts.

I bought some rebar on the way home from work to try the rebar method on my difficult Vapor XX. I heated the fuse point for a long time and stuck the rebar inside the shaft. I flipped the stick upside down and banged the rebar (butt end side) on the ground in an attempt to push the blade out.

It looks like the rebar is now stuck in what I'm guessing is the hosel of the blade(probably like you, hockeyplaya97). The blade didn't come out, but it now looks like the hosel became so hot that it has now begun to mushroom against the sides of the shaft. Right now it's bulging out at the fuse point. I think it's a goner unless someone has any suggestions.

Chris

Yeah it's a bastard to get it out of the hosel.

Still working on it.

I cut the blade off at the fuse point with a saw and began chiseling the hosel out of the shaft. It's getting somewhere but not far.

i've several different ops (tps.easton, inno/warrior inc pro stock, bauer). the first thing i do is heat them up and put them in a vise and pull. no damage to the shaft. i've picked up several shafts that the were broken and only the blade was good and saveed the blade using the same method without any problems. including a bauer XX, tps R6 and several others.

makes a huge difference, i would just flip it and throw a standard blade in the end. True one pieces are a pain in the ass. That being said, i turned mine into a tapered shaft, you just have to cut off a lot more than you think you will, be prepared to lose a lot of length.

I didn't even have to heat mine - it fell out by itself.

This happened with my first retail Dolo. It loosened, and loosened to the point where it just needed a lil' heat, and a jerk. (No, not me!)
