thefelixculpa 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 I've been asking a lot of questions on here lately about blades...I am about 5 ft 10.5in and I have been using the sakic easton st. The tape wears down at the heel a little bit and it just feels weird in general to me. I have been using the C21 Koho crossover blade my whole life and I got really used to it but I am starting to realize that the 6 lie may be too much for me.I see that the P106 has a 5 lie and am just wondering how different that is going to feel than the sakic blade? It has curve in the heel...I have no idea what that does for stick handling/shot...
EBondo 237 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 I went from the Sakic to the Gagne, and couldn't be happier. The curve is good for everything, and even though the tape still wears at the heel, it evens out more than the Sakic did and I don't think I could use another curve right now. DamnLocust 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 just for clarification, as it can get a bit confusing: The P106 pattern itself has not changed in awhile, other than the player name associated with it.Late 90s-early 2000s, It was the Linden. It became the Jokinen around '01 or '02 or so (when the Vapor XX came out, I believe) For '07, The P106 was renamed the Gagne. Prior to that, Gagne's name was attached to the P10, a very different curve (Shanahan Clone: mid-toe, long blade, square toe.)shooting will be a bit different with the P106, as you will need to use more of the blade to shoot (start shots at/near the heel, as opposed to being able to snap it off the toe more easily with the sakic. ) There are other mids/mid-toes with low lies out there, check the pattern DB and then check out the curves for yourself to see what might work. Thanos 12 Report post Posted July 1, 2007 I second Ebondo's response, I too switched from the sakic to the p106 and couldnt be happier, but again like everything it is personal preference and may not be for everyone. Ive always be a very bent over skater so going with the lower lie of the curve was perfect. The heel of the curve also works great for me and the saucer passes as it gives a soft touch because the puck is usually on the blade a tad longer as DamnLocust mentioned.
