skate fit length question

Recommended Posts

I have pretty short and very wide feet which severely limits my choice of skates. I live in Florida which really limits my access to a lot of variety both in skates and size.

With the CCM Pro Tacks (06 style) I want, in a full size the toe is pushed against not really faintly brushing the end of the skate. There are no quarter sizes. If I go up a half size my toe no longer touches the end sitting or standing.

Currently I wear an older pair of Tacks in the full size and my toe pushes on the end enough that once or twice a season I can bruise/blacken a nail on a big toe.

Should I go with the smaller or larger size? Maybe get the smaller size and try stretching them a little?

Thanks guys.

if the skates are brand new, and your toes are just brushing the toe cap, then that is perfect. when you skate, you bend your knees which drives your heels back into the heel cup, which in turn pulls your toes away from the toe cap, which inturn makes it a perfect fit. keep in mind also that with breaking in the new skate, that heel cup with break out a touch making to boot that much longer. id say go with the smaller pair aslong as you are just brushing the end of the toe cap right now.

I'd have to agree, there are ways to make skates bigger, but not smaller. And they will break in and get a little bigger on their own. I think you'd greatly regret going up to the larger size.

Go with the smaller size. Ankle packs usually work in, allowing your foot to sit back a bit more over time. And from what I recall, the ankle packs in the 06 tacks are fairly substantial.
