Micron 10-90 Volume

Recommended Posts

I have had real hit or miss experiences with skates since retiring my 10-90s, which I consider the best skates I've used. My size 9's fit perfectly into a size 7 Micron 10-90 boot. What boots currently would be similar?

I would say my foot is narrow in the heel and quite wide and flat in the forefoot. I bought Supertacks last year, and it has been a disaster even though the length is good. I guess it is an ankle issue with me.

I'm not happy with where I can get skates locally, it seems like when I ask to be fitted I get what they're selling as opposed to what would be best for my foot size and shape. I would rather have them tell me what to wear as opposed to me picking the prettiest skate off the shelf and trying to make it fit.

I have not seen any 10-90s for sale recently. If anyone can recommend a good fitter in the Buffalo area, I'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks everyone.

Well, the stock tried-and-true answer is a Bauer 8090, but I don't know how available they'll be. I think a Graf 705 or 709 might work, too.

I am under the impression that the Supreme 70 skates are the replacement for the 8090. You might want to start there.

I used to skate in the 10-70s and then the 10-90s. When I got back into hockey a few years ago I tried on many skates and the Bauer XX fit me the best. I then moved on to the XXXs when they came out and my other skates wore out.

Good luck.

Thanks Guys. How low in the Vapor or Supreme line could I go to get something for the simple beer leaguer and part time coach that I am?

Are the Supreme 50s decent? What are the Vapor choices?

The Vapor line fits a different foot type. It is much more narrow and shallow. I'd say stick with the supreme line, and choose between the 50's or 70's based on which feels better. The biggest difference between those two is probably stiffness. The 70's will be the stiffer of the two.

The supreme 50's are a fine skate for beer league. Have 'em and love'em. Not too much and not too little skate for the price.
