Are the 7.8 's any good? I know there are expensive and they look pretty cool, I'm just wondering if they will hold up and I'm curious about the straps on the back, wondering if the lack of straps will cause the pad to shift around on my leg to much, I'm using these for roller in a league and some occasional ice pick up games... also wondering if I should maybe go with the Mission Elite roller pads, more light weight, can these be used on ice?

Yes, they can be used for ice. In fact, I know a large number of people who prefer Mission pads to the lower end Itechs.
