Combo Radius on Skates

Bob at noicing has recommended that I try a combo radius on my skates with 7' in the front and a 13' radius in the rear. I've never heard much about this and was curious if anyone could fill me in on the possible benefits. I had been skating on a 9' and then an 11', I had issues with both. I have a couple sets of steel, so I guess I'll give this a try, but I'm very leery of how its going to feel as far as balance for one thing.
