Forsberg's ankle surgery

Anybody know what was wrong, what he had done?

I could easily be wrong as I could have misunderstood the articles, but I have read many articles about it all, if I understand correctly, his surgery last summer was due to a progressive condition with his ankle that he never tried to heal earlier, so basically his ankle was slowly and slowly disforming until it was basically naturally out of place, and he had tons of trouble and pain fittin his foot into a skate, so he got the surgery last summer to reallign his ankle. As for this summer's surgery, I never quite understood what was wrong throughout this year, but I have a feeling the surgery he had last summer made his ankle fit into skates, but then made his ankle/foot still deformed and had a unique form to it that no skate was fit for, so he got many many skates with many different inserts until his foot fit well, so I'd say his surgery this summer was to get his foot back to normal shape. Again, I could be wrong.

I think bigdaddy got it right, I've only read one small article about the surgery he had this summer, it was a smaller surgery performed by a swedish specialist. Afaik there was no problems after last years surgery with the functioning of the foot, only he couldnt fit it properly in the skate, at least thats what I kept reading all year long.

I watched him live playing a charity game 3 days ago and he didnt look sluggish at all, but its hard to tell as it was a friendly game. He made an announcement that the foot is feeling fine, but that he wouldnt play unless he was 100%. His foot hasnt healed completely from the last surgery and he had to cut a hole in the sole or the bottom of the skate to be able to play at all.

It was fun watching him though, as always. :)

i'm asking because i seem to need a ankle alignment

I am not totally certain about this summer's surgery, but I think it was minor tendon tightening around the area of the ankle worked on about a year ago. The major surgery from last summer sounded highly invasive. I recall that they actually sawed off portions of bones to get them to re-align. If you're in for something like that, I feel for you. I think it will be lots of rehab and slow recovery. Good luck.
