Simon,

I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana which is about a 50-55 minute drive from Hamilton, Indiana. The best bet you're going to have saying as we don't have really any hockey shops in Indiana that are good except in Fort Wayne, and Indianapolis (PanAm Plaza).

If you have access to a rental car and feel like taking a little road trip, take a drive to Center Ice, its an estimated 50 minute trip. This is the proshop in the rink I play at and they have most of the new stuff (XXXX skates, One90s, etc..) they really have a great selection of gear if willing to take the trip.

Other than that, there are no rinks or LHS that I know of located around where you're going to be.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me anytime and I'll try and help you as best as I can. Below I have located the link to MapQuest with directions from a generalized point in Hamilton County to Center Ice.

Directions

Hope this helps you out somewhat!

(PS: if you do take the trip, ask for Greg, he's the owner of the shop and very knowledgeable and very helpful when it comes to finding and fitting you in the right skate)

Where are you flying into? There is NOTHING around that area. If you fly into Fort Wayne, There is a good shop at McMillen Park, but nothing around there. The nearest AHL team is probably Toledo OH and the nearest NCAA team is Notre Dame in South Bend.

Chikin, is Pan Am still open?

I'm taking a trip down to Indy in a couple weeks and could pick up a couple things while I'm down there. (You're stick selection always seems to be better than here in Fort Wayne).

Plus it'd be cool to talk to you since I've only ever talked to you on here.

If you're not in Pan Am still, let me know where your new spot is and I'll make sure to stop by.

Pan Am is still open but my inventory is going down since we didn't put in a booking order. The sticks pants and gloves are all ok though. If you are looking for something in particular, hit me with a PM and I'll try to have it here.

Thanks everyone, I think I will be flying into Detroit arriving lunchtime on Sunday 7th October, then I need to be in Hamilton Monday morning so is there anywhere near Detroit airport or on the right side for heading to Hamilton later?

Any options other than flying or hire car (perhaps a train?) to get from Detroit to Hamilton, Indiana?

Thanks again.

I play in Basingstoke but to be fair I have just started playing again after 12 years out (stopped at 24 and am now 36) so I am just training for fun with the rec team, my kit is workable but falling to bits as it has rotted in the loft for 12 years. Thought this trip would be a good chance to upgrade a few bits at sensible prices!

Does anyone know which of these would be nearest Detroit airport please? http://site.summitonline.com/stores/store_locations.html

Thanks again

Car rental is probably the only way. We don't have the rail system that the UK has. Where do you play in the UK?

Looking at all that in more detail perhaps I should just fly into Fort Wayne.
