hockey equipment new york city

Recommended Posts

Myself and a few friends are going to both montreal and new york city in a few days. Some of the guys are looking to buy a lot of new equipment, in particular, for roller hockey. Except for skates ice hockey equipment will do the job, and probably better. We'll only be there a short while so ordering from online stores is unfortunately out of the question.

So I was just wondering where are the best hockey-dedicated stores to buy equipment in Montreal and NYC?

Cheers,

Dave

I live in NYC, specifically in Manhattan so i know a few places to try. One is the Wonderland which is the proshop in Chelsea Piers in manhattan, downtown on 23rd street. Another is Paragon Sports which is also downtown on 18th and Broadway which has a pretty decent selection. Lastly, Cosby's in MSG is another alright option but is probably the bottom of the three because it is more specific for Ranger's players and fans. I also know of another Wonderland in Brooklyn but have never been there. Thats all I can think of for now, hope thats helpful....

If your willing to travel into Queens, you can check out Sports Plus on Fresh Pond Road in Ridgewood. Easy to get to from the Subway. With the roller hockey league I run starting shortly they just got in a bunch of stuff from Mission. They have other stores so if your looking for something and Ridgewood doesn't have it, within a day they can get it from another location.

Cosby's has nothing of any significance in terms of equipment. Everything is 4-5 years old (maybe even older). I'd stay away unless your looking for team branded t-shirts, hats, etc.

I am a big fan of their shop (IMHO the best skate sharpeners in the metro area).

I know they are big on Graf skates and Christian sticks and a variety of brands for equipment; but they aren't necessarily a superstore in regards to selection.

It's worth checking out if you are in Manhattan.
