UC-CP-SF-dB 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2007 After a few months of searching and hoping, I spoke to my sons orthopaedic surgeon yesterday and we discussed his clubfoot issues. He has been rolling his right ankle out over his skate all summer and I was at a loss on what to do. tried lacing tighter, different socks, different skates (not bought...just tried on all available pairs at our LHS). Researched Superfeet and thought this would solve his problem....our Dr said that a orthotic insole would not do enough to correct the supination...he suggested an ankle brace...like this...http://www.swedeo.com/page25.htmWe are going to order one and see if it fits in the boot of his skate. If it does not, we have a custom ortho shop that we have dealt with in the past when my son needed AFO braces when he was younger, that will custom make something similar that will fit in the boot. Also I was really nervous about telling our Dr that my sons is totally into playing hockey, as I was not sure if he would be cool with him skating with the severity of my sons clubfoot at birth....Dr said that of any fast contact sport, hockey is the best choice because of the relatively low impact on his feet as opposed to soccer, football etc....He also told me that he has seen kids with fused ankle bones playing soccer and skating as well....Kids are so adaptable to their evironment! helper 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2007 Call Pro-Skate in Edmonton, they are the store I deal with and they do unbelievable blade alignment work. Kenny or Keith are my guysOne of their great abilities is to do on-line custom skate fitting and blade alignment, and they guarantee all their workThey remove the blade and reposition it on the boot relative to where the players natural center of gravity falls. ie if your son pronates they would move the blade slightly in to get his weight directly on top of the blade.THese guys are total experts and have a NHL following from all over the league because of their expertise with fit and performance. Also big into figure skates.pro skate

Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted September 27, 2007 One of their great abilities is to do on-line custom skate fitting and blade alignment, How would they go about doing that? Do they require pic's or do they have some sort of form and measurement system they use?
