DekeHead 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2007 Alright, I know that I should know this, but when talking to the stats for my team I realized that I was not 100% sure which center gets credit for the face-off win.Is the center whose team ends up with possession of the puck? Or the center who ultimately directs the puck?I looked in some rulebooks (NCAA and NHL) and couldn't find this info cited, so if you know and can direct me to a source that I could share, that would be great. Thanks! Technically, you haven't done anything to "win" the faceoff, but your team may still end up with possession of the puck because the opposing centerman made no effort to draw it back.He controlled where the puck went, but your team beat his winger to the puck. How is that still a "win" for you.I'm not trying to nitpick, and if it's deemed the player who's team gets the puck wins, then thats fine, I'm just unsure if thats the case

If you had nothing to do with winning the face off but your team still ended up with the puck, it is still your face off win.
