TBLfan 25 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 well teaching beginners I find this is the best way to explain how to stop vs a tight turn. Think about it, it makes sense.
Jordan 13 Report post Posted October 11, 2007 so I want to be on my heels when i make turns, especially quick turns?Well sort of. If you want to make really quick turns you need to enter the turn with your weight on the balls of your feet, knees extremely bent, and as you progress through the turn your weight moves from front of the blade to the back of the blade. And if you want to get more technical: if you can flex at the hips so that you upper body is more upright than your lower body (which must lean heavily to the inside of the turn) you will be better balanced and be more able to deal with the puck. rtwng20 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2007 Was in on a one hour class with some of my adult league teamates with Besa at the Ice box in Pittston Pa. I'd like to point out it was scheduled for ONE hour, none of us was able to go past 1/2 hour. The guy is just amazing. He can skate like no one I've ever seen, maybe the reason he isn't in the NHL is his size, he's only about 5'4'' and maybe 135 to 140 lbs. He's the real deal, and a very nice person to boot.
