Practice Puck

Recommended Posts

Someone showed me a street puck the other day that had three round rollers inside it so it rolled on tarmac. The rollers were spheres and a little bit of each sphere sticks out of the puck on the top and bottom and the sphere rolls when you slide the puck. Worked really nicely on tarmac.

I have looked but cannot find one on the web, any pointers please?

oh i remember those pucks from back in my youth hockey days. i think they came out right around the time of the first Mighty Ducks movie. they work pretty well until the roller gets stuck from a small rock finding its way in there. then it turns into a sideways rolling puck

Scheel's here has those pucks.

I bought one last summer. It kind of sucked.

IIRC, they're decent on smoother concrete, like the inside of a garage (unless you have large lines). Outdoor concrete will scratch the balls, making them less round, less prone to rolling and more prone to skipping sideways. The one I used to use in the streets lasted all of a few weeks before it was airborne all the time.

Not sure how you would keep the spheres lubed, but if you could it would be great for a basement or garage surface. At that point you're probably better off getting a plastic stickhandling surface and using real pucks though.
