Quick question on fit and compare

Recommended Posts

OK, I have moved my 8090's. I had arranged a purchase on a pair of Tack 972's in size 9E. The 9E fits well in the forfoot, albeit a tad loose in the ankle. I can also get a good deal on here, however, on a pair of new 7k pumps, but in a 9D. Would the fit be that different between the two? Quality-wise, considering there is about a $50 difference between the two, is the 7k that much better of a skate - keep in mind, I am a heavy, aggressive player with a gimp ankle.

Thanks.

The forefoot area will widen with break-in. Buying the E would be stupid if its already loose around your ankle.

OK, but how far out can you punch a d skate. The sizes are starting to screw me up because the brands within models I used to wear has even changed. I used to take a 10.5E in the Mission L series. I tried on 110XP's the other day and took 11D! I wouldn't say the Tacks I tried on were loose in the ankle, so much as not as tight as my 8090's were. I know having the Pump option on the 7k is great for the ankle support, but my 9E Vectos were so tight in the fore-foot that I would loose feelings in my feet - what are the chances a 7k in a D width would be much wider than a Vector in an E width?

Thanks.

You have to have some messed up feet my friend. I tried on 10d 110ag's and I couldn't get my fat dogs in the toebox.

Nothing personal but I am going to leave this thread to somebody else. I am confuzzled.

Thanks, man - that's real encouraging...maybe I should get them cut off and have a pair of skates fused directly to the shins - lol. Thanks anyway.

Sorry I couldn't help more. I just know what I fit into and obviously our feet are different. This just goes back to the "go to your LHS" standard that this forum cornerstones off of.

For about .15 seconds a few days ago, I seriously thought about the validity of this very idea. <_<

i had a pair of E width rbk's for a while. my 972's are d width and i found them to have a much narower heal. so the d's in the rbk will probably be a bit tighter in the heal for you than the 972's.

Thanks, guys - I am going to do the only obviously sensible thing, whichc is to go try a pair on...it is nice to have some idea so as not to waste time. Also, I was considering pulling the trigger last night on the 7k's, but I didn't want to end up in the same situation I had with my 8090's. On a side note, I did compare the two for weight at the shop that has the 972's - obvious weight advantage for the 7k. I'll have to get them on my feet for a try, I guess.

My friend has a pair of 5k's at his shop - would I get a good comparisson between a 5k and 7k of the same size?
