graf foot beds

Recommended Posts

My current orthodics are starting to deteriorate and I'm looking to replace them with something and was leaning to grey superfeet till i saw the Graf customizable footbeds in a shop. They looked interesting - they heat mold them to your foot like an orthodic and can (according to the shop) be used with any brand of skate.

Curious if anyone on the board has seen and/or skated in them.

Thanks

the Graf/Sidas footbeds?? I picked up a pair at my lhs for $35, and didn't find them to be too comfortable. They took up more space in the boot than my Superfeet so I didn't even skate in them. The package doesn't mention that they're heat moldable.

I purchased a pair and got them molded for my G5 Ultras. In all

honesty they felt weird in my skates while I walked with them

but when I get on the ice they feel AMAZING. Cost was $100

for the whole service and footbed and it took about

45 minutes.

There are two varieties of the Graf/Sidas footbeds. One is a Superfeet-style pre-formed footbed; the other (Con'formable) is the kind you have molded to your foot.

I've got the superfeet style Sidas footbed in my 707's and they're awesome. They were a bit odd feeling when I first put them on, but like someone else stated . . . once I got on the ice they felt amazing.

Those came with my Ultra G35's. Did they just feel more comfy to you or did they provide some support. I won't get on the ice for a few days and curious minds want to know!!

For those who are interested, I'll be getting a pair of the Graf/Sidas custom footbeds in the coming months, and taking them to a chiropodist to have them 'built up' to match the sole-profile of my (eventual) custom Grafs. Should provide a seamless foot/boot interface in the end.

Hi Law,

I am curious. You have detailed your problems with foot depth, so custom Grafs make a great deal of sense. My daughter has custom orthotics, and we were told to get them before getting her new figure skates (you think hockey skates are expensive? - holy moly!)so that we could try on skates with the orthotics in order to get the depth correct.

So I am curious if Graf will take your altered/custom foot bed into account ?

I'd say they provide some extra support. Problem is I have no baseline to compare them with in my 707's. Right when I purchased them (used) I also got a new set of insoles since the old ones were pretty disgusting.

There is definitely more support than the stock insoles that were in my previous skates, mission s500's.

I had a pair of custom Graf foot beds made at my LHS on the molding machine for my 735s. The molding machine sort of looks like a skiing video game with bars on each side for you to hold yourself up. I have flat feet and was considering having another pair of orthodics made.

There is definitely better support but the true test was my feet did not hurt after skating. When they molded the footbed I was told to keep my toes pointed up as this was the way Graf recommended the footbed be molded.

(I don't really know why.)

The cost is around $100 vs $300 for custom orthodics. I think I made the right decision.
