heel slip in Mission fuel 75

Recommended Posts

Hey guys im new to the forums, a good friend told me about this place, im also kinda new to the rink too, just gettin back into it after about an 8 year hiatus. So I just got some Mission fuels last year and i would say that they've broken in nicely, but maybe a little too much. I got them from a Summit Sports which is a great store but when they baked them the monkeys there didnt tell me that I couldnt/wasn't supposed to walk around in them. Im not sure if this has had any lasting or damaging effect on the skate but I kinda feel that when I skate I get a bit of a heel slip. Kinda like it lifts up when pushing off. I was just wondering what the best solution for this would be, or even if thats normal.

much thanks

also i tried searching the forums for this before i posted but couldnt find an anwser.

Wasn't poor fit in the heel/ankle area one of the major complaints about the first Fuel skates? I seem to remember there being a thread about that.

From Chad's review of the 110 AG....

Fit

The Fuels are much wider in the heel than I expected and much deeper in the ankle than I am used to using. They are also a little bit longer than S series skates, maybe 1/4 of a size larger in my size. I had difficulties getting my heel to stay locked in, even with a D width skate that I tried on. After breaking them in, they now feel sloppy and not nearly as responsive as my S500s. 6/10

Another review...

The only gripe I had was that the heel is slightly too wide, and when I baked them they became longer and don't fit as well.

One thing I've done in the past is to wear a long, over the calf sock and fold it down over the heel/ankle area area of my foot. Adds some bulk to my skinny ankles and helps take up some of the slop.

The newer Fuels (not silver) tend to fit a little more narrow in the heel. If you like the boot, you might want to look at them.
