Considering buying these... opinions

Recommended Posts

I LOVED my 727s, but the lining pulled, and I had to replace them. The 727s have a composite outsole, which put them above most of the other 700 series skates. A couple things to note:

- The Tuuks would've been added later, but Cobras and Tuuks line-up so no new holes should've (should've!) been drilled

- The 727 is very high-volume skate. If you don't have a high arch don't even think about these skates.

- You need to be a good technical skate for these skates - they are not stiff around the ankle and are made for those who thrive on forward flex. My stride was perfect in these skates, and I felt very nimble out there. THey are quite stiff below the ankle, but not above it, so benders need not apply.

- 727s (and Grafs in general) are much heavier than more up-to-date skates. A minor issue, but one worth pointing out.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Mike

Mike, you are the best. I do have high arches so I think these will be perfect. My only concern is the width of the heals. My heals fit well inside of my Bauer 7000 D's. How do you think the heal width and weight of these skates compare to my 7000's?

i had 727s before my pairs of Pro Tacks

the heel fit should be fine, but may be a little roomy for you. if these are pro-stock skates that have been used, then hopefully they hadn't been used much.

an AMAZING skate though... just don't expect the same lateral support you had from your 'ol 7000s.

The heel lock wasn't great, basically just two little lumps of foam that were supposed to hold your heel down. I found that unless I reefed on the laces around the ankle that there would be a little slippage on one heel. But, that could've been a symptom of the liner pulling, and not the design of the skate.

I paid $299.99 CDN for mine, and wouldn't pay much more than that for another pair - if I were to pay more I'd probably go to something lighter, and less bulky (I'd want to give the G7 Ultra or G70 Ultra a try).
