Stick Saver Wrap

Hey, i asked this in the s17 topic in ice hockey but i thought i would make a seperate topic out of it. I used this on my SL and i think it really worked, the bottom of my blade wore out before anything broke. I would say it adds probably a 1/3 or 1/2 more life to the stick. Anyway it's expensive and shipping sucks too plus you don't get very much, so i was wondering if anyone has just used a thick tape to basically perform the same function?

I would think using clear sock tape works just as well.

I always thought it sounded like a gimmick. Like a self-tuning guitar. Useless.
