Reebok 6k pumps

Recommended Posts

As a few of you may know, I was looking at getting a pair of Mission Wicked 5's. Yesterday I finally got to my LHS and they didn't have any Missions in my size so i couldn't try them on :( . Insted I tried on a pair of Reebok 6k pumps, they felt quite nice, however because of high skate prices in australia, I have been looking at getting them from hockey monkey.

The problem is that at my LHS I tried on a pair that where D width, but at hockey monkey they only have my size in an E width, how much of a difference would there be?

Also, does anyone know what is used inside the boot to give it stiffness, is it some kind of a composite material or is it plastic? I have done a bit of searching around but was un-able to find anything.

One last thing, does the pump on them last or does it break easily? with out it they where too loose for my liking.

Thankyou in advance, Bender

PS:In a way this is kind of urgent as I would prefrebly want them by Christmas

I'm not a genius on skates or anything, but i've had my 6k pumps for about a year now, and both are still working great. Great skate, btw.

I purchased a pair of these from Hockey Monkey after trying them on in my LHS. Before them I wore nothing but Bauer.

At first I was dissappointed with my purchase. However, once I broke them in, I love them more than any Bauer skate I ever had. They fit great all around. They seem a little lower cut than my previous Bauer but feel better. I have only had them three weeks but I wouldn't get any other skate.

The pump works great for cradling your ankle but if you don't want to use it you don't have too. I use it since I'm coming back from a serious ankle injury. It helps cushion the skate as it wraps around my ankle.

I think that the difference would be E is wider by about a quarter of an inch or less. If the D fit perfect I wouldn't try and force yourself to wear an E. You don't want any movement of your foot when it's in the skate.

I found my 6k's to be pretty stiff. Much more stiff than any Bauer inline skate I had worn previously. They were so stiff that the first couple times I lacd them up I had rope burn on my hands from the laces. Cut them up something bad (i'm a wimp :( ). I would invest in a pair of wax laces if I were you.

Hehe sounds kind of like when I got my mission D3's, I remember to start with they were horrible to have to tie up. When I tried them on at my LHS I must say that they didn't acctually feel particualry stiff, maybe it will be different when I get to acctually skate properly on them, not just rolling around.

I have these skates and they are really comfortable. The stiffness is a little rough at first use, but just put a little more air into the chambers and you wont notice the hard stiff. I dont lace the top eyelets so that could play a factor into it too. They are really comfortable, i also use these for when i play goalie and they are still comfortable.

I have skated in the Mission Wicked 3's and those were PAINFUL! Overall these are the best skates i have ever skated on.

Thats very useful to know as mine will be getting used in forward and in goals :D

I had problems with mine when I first got them, but once they were broken in, they felt great. I'm having them converted to ice right now since inline really isnt for me anymore.

Is converting an inline hockey skate to ice safe?

Well it depends what you call safe or not, it's about as safe as converting an ice boot to inline, the only problem with going the other way is that for the same price/model ice boots generally have a stiffer boot that when getting hit by a puck on it, won't hurt as much and since taking an inline boot to ice it means its a heavier harder puck onto a softer boot so it will hurt more. Apart from the there isn't really too much reason converting an inline boot to ice would be dangerous.

PS: since the rbk skates have a vented toe, it will also mean your toes will be more wet when you pull them out :)

Bender a few questions...

1) What shoe size do you wear and what size skate did you order

2) My Mission DNA d1 (2003) have a leather inside but by the ankle there are cutouts where there is soft felt padding.... whats the inside of the 6k skate like? Can you take some pictures?

3) Do the 6k have the skate lock?

4)Are they heavy? Can you weight one skate? I just weighed my current skates and each skate is exactly 3lbs (trying to see if the rbk 6k are as heavy as people claim)

5) Did you order the E or the regular D width? (I had the EE which was the extra wide width in the missions and its comfortable)

I'm stuck between the Mission Wicked 5 and the Rbk 6k

1) What shoe size do you wear and what size skate did you order

I wear a size 8.5 US and got a size 8D, I was fitted for size 7.5 but Hockey monkey only had them in an E width (the size also allows for growing room, both the 7.5 and 8)

The Inside of the 6k is difficult for me to discribe, it is kind like of a finely woven material, or like a very compressed felt in a way (minus loose bits) Pictures really wouldn't help to describe it.

3) Do the 6k have the skate lock?

Yes

4)Are they heavy? Can you weight one skate? I just weighed my current skates and each skate is exactly 3lbs (trying to see if the rbk 6k are as heavy as people claim)

I don't have a scale that I would be able to weigh them on, im sure if you search round the internet you will be able to find it though

5) Did you order the E or the regular D width? (I had the EE which was the extra wide width in the missions and its comfortable)

D in reeboks, EE in my previous missions

good luck

:o

I wear a 10.5 or 11 in street shoes and an 8 in the RBK's. My toes touch the cap when I'm standing, and pull off when I bend my knees.

WOW.....your feet must be stuffed in there. I now have 2 pairs of 7K's. One setup for ice (been in them for a year) and the others are brand new and getting a Sprung chassis mounted to them currently. I'm in a 10.5E in Asics and a 9E in the RBK's. My toes don't touch the front cap though unless I really TRY and knock them into the cap. Personally....I think that the fit is perfect.

There are only a few like you that somehow manage to get into rbk's 3 sizes smaller than there normal shoes, most people are 1-1.5 sizes different.
