I am heading up that way for a tourny in about a weeek and maybe wanted a stick or something well i am down there anyone know/work at any good shops on the canadain side close to the stamford, or memorial arenas and near the comfort inn on lundy's lane, i can drive out of my way but the closer and cheaper the better :) any help much apricated, and if you work at one and can hook me up with some boxing week specials :) much appricated as well.

do you work there and how far away is that from stamford arena? o and also is the exchange rate for equipment a little better in niagra since its so close to the states?

I would say the exchange rate in Niagra would be the same as the exchange rate in Chibougamou. Just because it is close to the States doesn't change the currency.

It's probably about 10-15 minutes down the road.

I work at the American location in the Amherst Pepsi Center.

With the exchange rate the way it's been, they have been matching Great Skate's/US pricing. Terrific selection and great customer service - not to mention the fun you could have with the Rapid Shot machine.

well i thought i red somewhere that there was a store and the owner was mathcing american prices but i am not sure guess not :(

i guess i did read it some where do you think i will have to mention it or is stuff just priced lower?

I would go to Cupolo's in Niagara Falls, Ontario. That is where I always used to shop for new gear when I lived in WNY. Great Skate's prices in Amherst, NY are traditionally a bit steep and they never really try to cut deals. I would try either Cupolo's out or travel to the Pepsi Center across the border, nice selection there. I also found a list of sports shops in the area, but it doesn't really say which carry hockey equipment. I know for a fact Cupolo's does though.

Well shit it's been a good year since I was over in St Catherines/NF area. I came up there for Thanksgiving this year but never crossed the border, simply didn't have time to get to good ol' Lundy's Lane :P

But yeah if Cupolo's is down and out, cross the border and hit up the Pepsi Center. Avoid Great Skate unless you want to be offended by sky high inflexible prices. No offense to any workers on here that work at Great Skate, but the prices have been traditionally higher than Pro Shops in the WNY/Ontario area.
