Shops with large selection of sticks/blades in Chicago NW Burbs?

Recommended Posts

I live in a smallish town that only has 2 LHS and they are both kindof limited on their selection. I'm wondering what stores there might be in the chicago burbs that people feel I should check out. I'll be staying in the northwest burbs but I'll be passing through south chicago on 80/94 then to 294 to I-88 Westbound out to North Aurora (past 355 and 59, out to Orchard Road). I will be in no hurry so I could really stop anywhere along the way to check things out, and I'll be out there for a few days with no real plans except going out in the evenings so during the day I could check some places out. I'm looking for a new stick or two (and blades, if I decide to get a two piece) and the LHS are quite limited.

These guys have a pretty good selection. I've only been to their Downers Grove store though, so I can't speak for the other locations.Link

In Aurora off of Orchard on Eola there is B&R Sports which has a decent selection of one piece NBH sticks and skates, not much higher end gear though. Actually they have another shop down the street on North Aurora RD. off of Eola at All Seasons Ice Rink, same deal there, all level of skates and some sticks, lacking on protective though last time I was there. Out on 55 in Romeoville there is Gunzo's at International Ice Centre, they have a good selection of everything and good prices, its a new place too, 3 full size rinks and a goalie training center. There's another Gunzo's at the Darien Sportsplex off of Plainfield RD. in well Darien off of 75th, but it's a smaller shop which not much, but down the street there is the Total Hockey on W. 75th which has quite a large selection on sticks, skates, gloves, pants, decent amount of goalie gear like McD said.

Best bet for sticks is going to be Total Hockey or Gunzo's @ IIC

As of being a Midget in the chicago area and traveling aroung a lot ur best proshops would definatly be gunzo's, Freds or Total Hockey. Gunzos in Romeoville is one of the best proshops in Illinois. They have people that know what there talking about and always a good amount of high end equipment on the shelves. Total Hockey ive actually never been to but from what ive heard its good stuff. Another Gunzo's is in hoffman estates at the hoffman estates ice arena. they have a good selection of high end sticks. Fred's ware house in Mundelein is pretty good, you have to catch them on the right week tho because they sell out of sticks really fast. im going there tomorrow so ill look but i bet theres hardly anything. if you looking for some blackhawks stuff u can go to Hawkquarters in downtown chicago which i was there last weekemd. A very big selection of used hawk stuff and A lot of patrick kane and jonathan toews sticks. they had about 8 never used jonathan toews stealth S17 and had a bunch of kanes one90...
