I tried searching for a previous Last.Fm thread, but couldn't find one.

I just signed up for it today, but if anyone wants to share theirs here is mine.

It's still updating all my songs, but I love finding out other music people are listening to, and trying it out.

Personally I think the "Related Artist" feature is sort of like saying, "Well if you like this band, then chances are you want to only hear more bands that are exactly, or close to the same." While it would be difficult for them to offer unrelated artists in different genre's and style's, I just find it to be a stagnant option.

Some of the forum discussions are what's really nice about that site.

If you only like one genre, then maybe it could be a stagnant option. But if your tastes run the gamut, then all they are doing is essentially saying, "Have you ever heard of these guys? I have a feeling you'll like them."

That seems like a great way to discover new bands that corporate radio has buried.

The "Transplants" and "Rise Against" appear in my recommendations, which is my basis for rendering it useless to me. Not to mention that, for the sake of argument, I listen to about .6573% of bands that could be considered "similar" to either of those. Though you could be right, and it's useful for other people.

For more obscure stuff I'm not too familiar with, it ends up being pretty useful. I definitely see what you mean though.

I'm also not as into music as I used to be... so this is a lazy method of finding out new artists. haha
