Elbow Pad Shopping

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to upgrade from a pair of Sherwood 9950's that I've had for a while now. THe Sherwoods protect great, but they don't move real well, they are bulky, and are heavy.

I've got it widdled down to looking at either the new Mission M-2's, or a set of Koho 4440's. Both in a small. I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with these and if they are worth getting. I definatly want the "3-peice" design for better mobility, but are they build well and do they fit well. Or should I skip on both and go for another make?

THoughts please

I've never tried either of those models but I've always liked Jofas for underprotective stuff. You might want to gander at the 9066s. Some people find jofa to be bulky but they're fine to me. Jofa equipment is fairly inexpensive as well (which is quite surprising).

I tried on the M-2 and wasn't too impressed. The M-1's on the other hand seemed very comfortable and protective and had a nice strapping system but I havn't actually used either pad and the M-1 is $15 more. I also thought the Bauer 2000 was pretty decent in the $25-30 price range. I havn't tried on the Koho's.

I had looked at the 9066's but they don't make them in a small. Sizes 5 and 6, no 4. Though I do agree with Jofa being good. My sholder pads are Jofa.

For the extra money, go with the M-1's...I can bet that you will love them...The won't slide down, have great protection, and great mobility...

What are the major differences between the M-1's and M-2's? I've looked at online pics but it's a black liner on a black background and can't see it very well. I know the material is more breathable, and that the protection is up to par on both, but I don't want to buy them if it's going to be more than I need. If the M-1's are just a whole lot better than the M-2's, then I'll spend the extra money, but if it's just slight differences with stuff I won't need, then I might save some loot.

Is is a situation where there really is no reason to make the M-2 in the first place cause it's just that much worse?

I'll second that statement.

Thanks for all the help with the Mission M-1's and M-2's. Does anyone have anything to say about the Koho 4440's? Right now Mission is winning. And can anybody weigh in on Easton elbow pads. Again I'm looking for the "3-cap/3-piece" design in a senior small.

The Jofa XX66s are pretty nice, as well as the others.

Killer deal on the XX66s.

Again, one problem. They don't come in a small. Though funny you mention "Peranis.net" I was just rooting around and found they have CCM Supra 420's. Since CCM and Koho are really one in the same, are the Supra's just repackaged Koho's or vice-versa? Cause the Supra 420's also had what I was looking for.

To be honest, I had some 8066's at one point and trying on the M-1's I thought they were much more comfortable and less likely to slide down the arm like the Jofas did on me. If that's the style of pad you're looking for you'll probably be very happy with them.

THanks for everyone's help. I went with the Mission M-1 elbow pads and I'll tell you how it goes. I like the way Mission thinks out of the box a little and I think I'll be happy with them.
